Mélanie Prouet
With over 20 years of experience in translation, I still find it incredibly rewarding to bridge communication between people and businesses from different cultures.
I’m Mélanie, originally from Normandy, France, and I hold a degree in International Business Law (Maîtrise des Affaires Internationales) from the University of Le Havre. Although I initially set my sights on a career in Justice, I soon followed another passion: languages.
That journey led me to Madrid, where I spent a year studying — and fell completely in love with the city’s energy and way of life. I moved back in 2001, and I’ve called it home ever since, building a career I truly enjoy as a professional translator.
Reliable and detail-oriented, I specialise in helping individuals and companies communicate across borders with clarity and nuance. I care deeply about the quality and tone of every text I work on. That means going beyond just words — I research thoroughly and immerse myself in the author’s perspective to ensure nothing gets lost in translation.
After years working in-house, I now work fully freelance. I collaborate with agencies in Spain and internationally — including the US, Ireland, the UK and France — as well as directly with companies. I also partner with sworn translators on French-language projects that require certified expertise.
